Eclipse is a dynamic and welcoming sailing community rooted in inclusivity, love for the water, and strong community spirit. We offer engaging training sessions on J/24 boats designed for both current enthusiasts and aspiring sailors. As we continue to grow, we’re on the lookout for charismatic, client-focused instructors to become part of our crew.

Position Summary

As a Sailing Instructor, you’ll lead 2.5-hour sailing sessions for individuals or small groups, teaching the basics of sailing, safety, and teamwork. You’ll work in shifts (options include weekday evenings and/or weekends), making sailing fun, safe, and memorable for everyone who steps aboard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct engaging, safety-first sailing sessions on J/24 boats.

  • Greet clients, assess their experience level, and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Explain basic sailing theory, boat handling, and onboard roles.

  • Supervise crew and ensure proper use of safety gear.

  • Report maintenance issues and uphold club standards.

  • Create a friendly, welcoming environment for all guests.

  • Work in coordination with the site team to ensure smooth operations.

  • Teach basic sailing in a way that feels fun, not intimidating.

  • Keep safety first — always.

  • Make everyone feel seen, capable, and excited.

  • Team up with the staff to keep everything running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Ability to foster an engaging, energetic atmosphere and inspire excitement among students while managing a diverse crew.

  • Experienced sailor or skipper with a solid background in instruction and mentorship.

  • Certified sailing instructor (preferred but not required).

  • USCG license or a clear path to obtaining one in a timely manner.

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Talent for teaching beginners with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both on and off the water.
